Hi there -- I am a literacy coach specializing in Structured Word Inquiry (SWI). I have been using SWI in my tutoring for several years now. I am also a certified Barton (OG) tutor. I have been diving deep into the science of our language for the past 5 years. Structured Word Inquiry is about the interrelationship of a word's meaning, structure and phonology. In every session your child will learn reading, spelling and, because we investigate by word family, they will learn lots of new vocabulary. I offer private tutoring sessions as well as classes.

My Story
Growing up school was hard for me. I never understood why until our son was diagnosed with dyslexia. Since 2013 I have been on a path of learning and teaching. I taught Barton for several years, but I always felt frustrated, teaching rules and then the exceptions to those rules. It seemed overly hard. A few years into tutoring I had heard of this "thing" out there called Structured Word Inquiry. I took a class with Michel Rameau, and that was it! No going back! Here was the science of our language. It made sense! This is what linguists knew. I want to share the joy of learning about our language. To ask with my students, "Why is a word spelled like that?" and then investigate it. To teach them the tools to unlock how words are built.
